Are These Jefferson County Christmas Displays Too "Over-the-Top?"
Our partners at FOX-2 found an Arnold display showing Santa holding the rope on a bleeding deer in lights and another one in Barnhart with Santa taking a potty break.

Distasteful or representative of the Jefferson County community?
That's the question arising from the discovery of two Christmas displays—one in Arnold and the other in Barnhart—featuring bleeding deer in lights hanging from their feet. The Barnhart home also includes Santa urinating in lights from the rooftop.
Our partners at FOX-2 found the displays and interviewed homeowners and neighbors.
The station learned the Arnold display was part of what the family calls its "Gawdy Christmas" theme. One family member told FOX-2's Andy Banker that Jefferson County is a hunting community.
In Barnhart, FOX-2 found that the bleeding deer display was set in the yard of the home as a joke on the homeowner, who responded by placing Santa taking a potty break on the roof.
For the most part, neighbors near both homes laughed off the displays; others were offended, the station reports.
So, what do you think? Are the displays too far over-the-top? Tell us in comments!

It's not something I would do but for people to be offended by it is absurd. People need to lighten up and laugh a little.

Some people are just cruel, rude and underhanded. Remember what Christmas means birth of Christ. Joyful time, some people are not allowed to do these things, due to neighbors being offended. Glad you live in the Home of the Free? Well it's not free for some people!

I've lived in Arnold for 50 years and thought the incorrect but perceived reputation of only poor white trash living in Arnold was finally gone. This takes the cake. How can you possibly have a rational excuse for showing a reindeer in that horrific pose for our young to see. It is a time for common sense and a sense of pride to be re-born in the city of Arnold. This is in poor taste and does not reflect the largest portion of the population of Arnold. Most don't approve....

It never ceases me to see humanity at it's worst...Isn't Christmas about showing your love towards one another that includes all living creatures. How does an image of a deer bleeding display compassion and the core message of Christ. Disgusted.

Christmas actually started as a Pagan festival Mary. Since the bible doesn't actually say when Jesus was born, Christians simply took the Pagan customs of what is now "Christmas" and made them there own.
