Arnold Food Pantry Only $60,000 Short of Fundraising Goal

The pantry needed to raise $450,000 for its new 12,000 square foot building and its renovations.

The Arnold Food Pantry, currently at 25 Village Plaza, is within $60,000 of its fundraising needs to renovate its newly purchased building at 2024 Key West Drive.

The pantry feeds morethan 150 families a week from Arnold, Imperial and unincorporated Fenton.

The 30-year-old non-profit is the largest non-denominational food distribution center in the St. Louis area that receives no governmental help, said a news release from the Arnold Chamber of Commerce.

The pantry's new building is 12,000 square feet and is about twice the size of its current building.

The pantry said, during a June 1 presentation, it hoped to raise $450,000 for the new building and its renovations.

If it raises another $60,000 the pantry will can concentrate on feeding the hungry instead of paying bank debt, the news release said.

The Arnold Jaycees donated $5,000 to the pantry and promised to hold a golf tournament fund-raising project this fall, the news release said.

The St. Louis Building Trades Unions pledged or donated thousands of dollars in money and man-hours to help defray the cost of the renovations.

Local business leader Warren Sign donated all the  outdoor signage needed for   the Arnold Food Pantry's new building.
