Arnold Man Charged With Felony for Third Theft-Related Offense
The man tried to walk out of the Mehlville Walmart with a BB gun tucked in his waistband, police say.
An Arnold man was caught trying to steal a Colt BB gun from a Mehlville Walmart, making it his third stealing offense in three years, according to St. Louis County Police.
Christopher Allen, 25, of the 2200 block of Jackson St. in Arnold, was charged Thursday with stealing. Because it was his third theft-related offense in 10 years, he was charged with a Class D felony.
St. Louis County Police said that Walmart security saw Allen attempt to cut a cord binding a mobile phone to a display Sept. 2 at the store at 3270 Telegraph Road in Mehlville. He then selected a Colt CO2 BB pistol from a display and went into a restroom.
When Allen came out of the restroom, he was not carrying the item. St. Louis County Police officers caught Allen outside the store. A search revealed the BB gun was tucked in his waistband.
Bond was set at $2,500.
