Body Found in Burnt-Out Vehicle on Hollywood Beach Road

Arnold detectives are awaiting DNA results on the victim, who was burned beyond recognition.

Arnold detectives are investigating a body that was found inside a burnt-out vehicle on Hollywood Beach Road near the Meramec River.

Police received a call about the incident from a person walking in the area around 1 p.m. Sunday, said Det. Robert Ruckman, of the Arnold Police Department. The victim was burned beyond recognition.

"It will take at least a couple of weeks before we get the DNA results back from the medical examiner to make a positive ID," he said.

Ruckman said he could provide no further details because the case is an ongoing investigation.

Street lights have been removed from streets adjacent to the park where there are homes. The car could have been dropped and burned in the day time. If there is any criminal activity going on in the park or on Hollywood Beach Rd the home owners would not see it. The response from the city is we did not remove the lights and we will not pay to have them on. In the past we have notified the police dept about suspect cars driving fast on our roads and being abandoned turns out they were stolen and the theif was cought. Now this is not the first time bodys have been dropped on that rd and I am sure the park and the river rd will continue to have more criminal activity. The home owners can not police the park or the river road. We do not have the attention of the city officials to get this part of town secure. Thank you Mayor Counts and the rest of you......

Start a neighborhood watch group! That's what we did in my old neighborhood. You'd be surprised how quick you can get results, just write down suspecious license #'s down and notify the police. Don't be part of the problem be part of the resolution!

I totally agree, Mary! I joined mine recently, and we're trying to make a bike watch when the weather gets nicer.
