Borgelt Upsets Crisler, Amato Returns to City Council
Unofficial Jefferson County Clerk results also have Sandra Kownacki joining incumbent Bill Moritz on the city council.
Arnold residents elected a new City Council on Tuesday night.
The Jefferson County Clerk’s website reported the following unofficial winners at about 9 p.m.
- Ward 1: Doris Borgelt won with 62.3 percent, or 371 votes, over incumbent Randy Crisler, who received 217 votes.
- Ward 2: Incumbent William “Bill” Moritz received 289 votes to earn 51.6 percent of all ballots in a victory over challenger Michelle Hohmeier, who had 269 votes.
- Ward 3: Voters re-elected former Councilman Phil Amato with 39.2 percent, or 271 votes, in a five-way race. Incumbent Bob Lindsley received 34.3 percent of the votes, or 237 votes. Stan Willis was third with 23.3 percent, or 161 votes. Candidates Daniel Bretz and Tyler Baechle were fourth and fifth, respectively, in votes received.
- Ward 4: Sandra Kownacki had 263 votes, or 56.2 percent of the ballots, for a victory over Gary Plunk, who received 205 votes.
The Jefferson County Clerk’s office, which conducts and monitors elections throughout the area, will take about seven business days to verify the count and post official results.

Crisler, Lindsley and Ward 4 Councilman Jason Connell, who did not run for office, will remain seated at Thursday’s City Council meeting at City Hall, at 2101 Jeffco Blvd.
Borgelt, Amato and Kownacki will be sworn into office sometime next week after the results have been confirmed. The city council has a work session scheduled for April 14.

The new members will participate in their first city council meeting on April 21.
In terms of the Fox C-6 School Board, voters selected Linda S. Nash, Dan E. Smith and John Laughlin as board members.
Jefferson County Health Center Board members are John Scullin, Timothy J. Pigg and Pat Schwalbe.
Steven Ott and Dan Meyer will join the Rock Township Ambulance District Board of Directors.
