Arnold resident and Ward 2 Councilman Jim Edwards, 72, succumbed to stroke complications Thursday.

Visitation is at Kutis Funeral Home South Chapel, at 5255 Lemay Ferry Rd., St. Louis, from 4-9 p.m. Monday.

The funeral service is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kutis, Ward 3 Councilman Phil Amato said.

Arnold Police will escort Edwards to the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in Mehlville, where the funeral will occur at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Edwards is a U.S. Army veteran, Amato said.

Flags will be at half-staff at Arnold City Hall, the Rock Community Fire Protection District, the Jefferson County Public Library-Arnold Branch, Arnold Recreation Center and at various Arnold-based businesses, Amato said.

“Black bunting is across the front of City Hall to let the public know a City of Arnold dignitary has passed away," Amato said.

Instead of flowers, Edwards’ family asks for donations to support Arnold Police Officer Pat Sweeney’s daughter Jessica Sweeney, who has cystic fibrosis, Amato said.

Jim Edwards and his wife attended several events to support Jessica Sweeney throughout the years, Amato said. Donations can be made at Century Credit Union, at 3920 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold, MO., c/o Jessica Sweeney.

Jessica Sweeney is the niece of Arnold City Attorney Bob Sweeney, Amato said.
