Former City Councilman James A. Waldrop, who served from 1979 to 1983, died Oct. 8.

At Thursday's night's Arnold City Council work session, the council observed a moment of silence in honor of Mr. Waldrop.

Ward 3 Councilman Phil Amato said Mr. Waldrop was instrumental in getting the city's handicapped parking ordinance approved. He added that the measure was one of the first in the metro area to be introduced.

There will be a visitation this morning at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection at 9907 Sappington Rd. from 10 to 11 a.m., according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Afterward, interment will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family members are requesting memorial donations to Feed My People.
