Fox 2: Crews Rescue Child from Van in Creek

A car ran into a creek early Tuesday morning.

A single car accident sparked a rescue squad response in Jefferson County Tuesday morning.

According to Fox 2, a mini-van went into a creek just before 7 a.m. on State Route M at Highway 61/67.

Rock Community Fire District reported that crews rescued a 40-year-old woman and a 4-year-old child were rescued by firefighters and police officers this morning about 7:30 a.m.

A press release from Rock Community stated that when firefighters arrived on scene,they found a van overturned into a creek. A Missouri Highway Patrol Officer, already on scene, had pulled the child from the vehicle but was unable to get up the steep embankment. 

Firefighters were able to form a “human chain” and assist the patrolman, child and woman up the hill to safety, the press release stated.

Both the woman and child were transported to a local hospital for observation with no major injuries.
