Fox School Board President's Relative Hired as Food Service Director

Were politics involved in the decision to hire Linda Nash's daughter-in-law for the $65,000-a-year job? Our partners at FOX 2 confronted the district about the decision.

Nepotism: favoritism (as in appointment to a job) based on kinship. That's the definition of the word, according to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary.

Is that what occurred when the Fox School District's Board of Education voted to hire its president's daughter-in-law for the district's $65,000 director of food services position? FOX-2's Elliot Davis asked the question in one of his "You Paid for It" reports on Friday.

Here is the job description for the position: 10 Job Openings In and Around Arnold. It states that the job required the applicant to get his/her nutrition certificate or be registered as a dietitian within two years.

Nash's daughter-in-law has 17 years of experience as manager of a fast food restaurant and a high school diploma, according to the FOX 2 report. The district is giving her the two years to get the required designations.

A district human resource official told the station Nash’s daughter-in-law was the best person for the job and said that her family connection did not play a role in her hiring.

Simply having a relative also working at the school should not prohibit qualified applicants from getting any job, If that were the case A LOT of folks would not be working at Fox

I have a property tax bill for 2012
That is $1837 and $1200
Of if it goes to Fox high school
Does that amount only seem excessive TO ME?
I don't even have any school age kids.

Why does this surprise anyone? Didn't Diane Brown get the job after they fired Diane bursaw because she wouldn't comply to the board? Wasn't Diane,s father on the board at the time. Didn't Diane dump her husband and marry the football coach who then was promoted to director with no teaching credentials? Wake up Arnold ! It's been going on for years and you let it happen. You vote them in and you can vote the, out!!
