House Springs Man Sentenced to 235 Months in Prision

U.S. District Judge John A. Ross sentenced , of House Springs, MO, to 235 months in prision for the armed robbery of First State Community Bank in Imperial, MO on Oct. 14 2011.

Morrison pleaded guilty, in January, to one count of bank robberty and two felony counts of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, a news release said. 

Morrison was sentenced in late April.

The U.S. Code of law, in 1934, made robbing a bank a federal crime because  banks' deposits are insured by a federal agency, said the Department of Justice's Federal Bureau of Investigation website.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, or FDIC, insures each depositor at least $250,000 per insured bank, the government organization's website said.
