Marine Cpl. Nicely Enjoying 'Smart' Home

Marine Cpl. Todd Nicely, of Arnold, and his family have moved into their new home at Lake Ozark, MO.

Todd Nicely, a Marine Cpl. formerly of Arnold, and his family have moved into their new smart home in Lake Ozark, MO.

The home allows Nicely to resume an independent life after an explosive device hidden beneath a bridge tore off his hands and lower legs during a tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2010.

The new home has hooks and handles on doors instead of knobs to accomodate Nicely's prosthetic arms and hands, the stltoday.com website says.

The home also has emergency buttons in case Nicely has an emergency, the website says.

Nicely can make his own meals—due to his home's design—and allows his wife Crystal, 26, to earn her degree in social work.
