Mitt Romney Spotted Near Hazelwood in North County

Hundreds of people lined up hours before the Mitt Romney event at Production Products, not too far from Hazelwood.

Hazelwood Patch reported on Wednesday Mitt Romney would be making two visits throughout St. Louis on Thursday.

Fans in the City of Hazelwood and throughout the Lewis & Clark Township line up hours before the event awaiting the presidential candidate.

The former Massachusetts governor made a stop at Production Products located 1285 Dunn Road, at 12:40 p.m., according to his campaign website.

In his speech, Romney said the government has "an absolute moral commitment" to help every American help themselves, according to KMOV. Watch streaming video on the news site.

The north St. Louis County firm is a military contractor that specializes in many areas from chemical and biological protection to armor, according to its website. The company has received numerous awards, including the Department of Defense Minority Contractor of the Year back in 1992 and a couple of honors for producing fiber composite armor.

It is also Hispanic-owned, a sector of voters Romney and the Republican Party have been seeking to attract.

Those wishing to attend were asked RSVP to the event on Romney's website.

Protesters were also present outside the event, including local labor activists, student and members of Occupy St. Louis in a group called One-Percent. The group handed out pink slips representing workers Romney allegedly laid off in his past business ventures.

Next stop for Romney includes a private fundraiser Thursday evening in Clayton.

There is a 3 p.m. anti-Romney rally at Keiner Plaza featuring St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley.
