An Arnold man has been charged in connection with the burglary of a neighbor's home in the 2900 block of Harmony Hills.

Tracey Childress, also of the 2900 block of Harmony Hills, is facing a second-degree burglary charge from the Jefferson County Prosecutor's Office stemming from the Oct. 13 incident.

The homeowner reported that $140 in cash and a gold necklace with a diamond pendant were stolen from the house between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., according to court documents. A side door had been pried open by the carport.

A neighbor told police she saw Childress at the carport around 2 p.m. but didn't think anything about it since the man had been to the house before, the documents state. The homeowner said Childress had a sandwich and drink at his home earlier that day.

When arrested, Childress told police he did not commit the burglary. 

Second-degree burglary is a class C felony and carries with it a punishment of up to one year in jail or one to 7 years in a state prison and/or up to a $5,000 fine.
