Readers' Choice 2012: What's the Best Facebook Page in the Area?

Nominate the local company or organization that does the best in connecting with its readers through social media.

Less than a decade ago, many companies and organizations did not even have a website. Remember those days?

Now, social media is the new place to be. Facebook pages enable organizations to connect with their readers in personal ways other methods of information delivery can’t.

Today, we want you to nominate the companies, restaurants, nonprofits, or other organizations that do the best job of using Facebook in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Simply write the name of the company in the comments section below; include a link to the Facebook page if you can, and don't forget to tell us why you liked the page you nominated.

Nominations can be made from today until July 9. Voting will begin thereafter. Make sure to tell all your friends and family to participate.

If you’re looking to get a great workout, staying motivated, and looking your best, then Blue Ocean Fitness is the studio for you. Blue Ocean Fitness is not your typical workout studio. You get a great, safe, challenging workout, that really feels personalized. It's not all a "one size fits all" type of mentality. And there's always a fun motivational challenge to stir things up and keep things interesting!

Blue Ocean Fitness! I never thought I would say exercising is fun but it is at Blue Ocean. The time flies by and I get a great workout. The owner/trainer really cares about making sure you workout safely and gives everyone plenty of individual attention. I have met some really nice people there too! No intimidation factor at all!!!

Blue Ocean Fitness is the best! The trainer is not only knowledgeable in his field, but he also has each and every client's best interest and fitness goals in mind. The workouts are NEVER boring...in fact, most days they are entertaining in a way that cannot be described...it just keeps me coming back for more! Come try out Blue Ocean Fitness - you will not be disappointed! I have found so much more here at this studio than I have ever found at any other health club...nutrition tips, accountability, "killer" workouts, friends, FUN....

OK all you Blue Ocean Fitness fans, your raves about the site prompted me to look at it. The idea isn't that "Blue Ocean Fitness is awesome!" Maybe it is, but it seems to me the idea was supposed to be that Blue Ocean Fitness has a great website. It doesn't. So next time this contest comes around, reverse the order: First, create a great website. Second, go online and rave about it.

Personally, I'd have to go with http://www.facebook.com/allonthesamepaj, our bookstore's FB page. ;)

We keep things current, have lots of events and posts, interact with customers, and post community updates as well. AND we're local!

I'd like to nominate Keysor Elementary in Kirkwood: https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keysor-Elementary-School-Kirkwood-School-District/277430450379
Part of what makes a Facebook page successful is the level of activity and information on the page. Keysor's page has both. It's hard sometimes to get solid info out of my kiddos and I love that I can go to the FB page and get up-to-date information there.

My nomination is the Keysor Elementary School-Kirkwood School District page. It is updated daily and full of information about what's going on in the school and with the kiddos. Pictures and videos are posted frequently. It's my first choice to find news about the school and everything that is going on as it's so current and up-to-date.

I would like to nominate Shelter Buddies of Missouri https://www.facebook.com/ShelterBuddiesMissouri for whom I volunteer. We have used social media (Facebook) successfully in the last year and have found homes or rescues for hundreds of adoptable pets that may have otherwise been euthanized from Jefferson County Animal Control (which I also, volunteer for).

Schnuck Markets. They post recipes, Wednesday Wows, Friday's Drive-Time Deals, other helpful information, and do a good job at responding to people's posts.
