Rock Community Fire Protection District's newest member - a 2-year-old black lab named Madison - is making the rounds with area school children in district's newest program called Paws for Reading.
Madison, a fully trained service dog with Support Dogs of St. Louis, has been visiting schools in the area on a regular basis. The program helps students read and learn new words while reading to their new best friend - Madison.
Madison also takes the fear away from children who may be frightened or shy around firefighters and those in uniform. The program has also been especially beneficial for those children who have autism or special needs.
For more information on scheduling a visit from Madison, call Ron Harder at 636-296-2211.
