Arnold Historical Society Opens New Building

The Arnold Historical Society officially opened on July 11 at its new location at 1723 Jeffco Blvd.

About 45 Arnold Chamber of Commerce members attended the ribbon cutting event, the museum's President Bernie Wilde said. "It was probably the largest gathering from the Chamber."

Wilde, and a few of the historical society members, dressed in historical clothing for the event.

The new location is 1,838 square feet and is more than twice the size of the society's former location in an 800-square-foot trailer located at Ferd B. Lang Park, Wilde said.

"It allows me to reclaim my basement in my home," she said in a jokingly at the event.

Wilde also said that she offers individual tours to people with disabilities to allow them fully enjoy and learn about Arnold's history.

The hope is that museum begins to attract people to the City of Arnold and helps its numerous restaurants.

Mayor Ron Counts said the museum plays an important part in the city's history, strengthening children's education and improving their character. "In an era where most people throw things away, this museum shows the importance of history."

The museum contains items from World War I, photos of Arnold and Jefferson County residents who served in the U.S. military, land deeds from 1853, items from Ms. Buffalo Bill Cody, and other items about the city and its residents.
