Jefferson County Library Adds Playaway View All-in-One Video Players to Its Preschool Arsenal

Thirty video viewers will rotate among the Northwest, Arnold and Windsor branches of the library system. They were purchased with grants received from the Walmart Foundation through the Arnold, Gravois Bluffs and High Ridge Walmart supercenters

The Jefferson County Library is adding Playaway View players to its preschool media collection. The library now offers the portable all-in-one video players at the , Northwest and Windsor Branch Libraries thanks to grants from the Walmart Foundation.

The pre-loaded video players offer parents and preschoolers access to award-winning programs from top children’s content providers such as PBS KIDS, National Geographic, Sesame Street, TumbleBooks and Weston Woods.

“With Playaway View, we can provide our families with early learning and literacy programming that combines technology and content for kid appeal,” said JCL director Pam Klipsch in a new release from the library.

“The View’s easy-to-use technology and appealing content makes it a great addition to our children’s media collection,” Klipsch said. “Even young children can operate these devices, which are small and sturdy and portable enough for them to hold comfortably in their hands.”

Weighing only 5.4 ounces, Playaway View comes with 3.5 inch full color LCD screen with a shatter-resistant acrylic screen cover. The built-in speaker makes sharing content easy, while the headphone jack outlet offers a library/parent-friendly quiet option.

With an initial collection of 30 Playaway Views rotating among the three branch libraries, the library hopes to add more over time, Klipsch said. The first group of players was purchased with grants from the Walmart Foundation awarded to the Jefferson County Library Foundation by the Arnold, Gravois Bluffs and High Ridge Walmart superstores.
