Arnold Man Gains Traction in Ghost Rider Comic Lawsuit

An Arnold native is fighting to prove he is due his fair share of royalties as creator of the Ghost Rider comic character.

On Tuesday that man, Gary Friedrich, received some good news pertaining to his copyright suit. A federal appeals court ruled language in a 1978 contract was ambiguous.

"Tuesday’s opinion by a three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Court of Appeals says that when then-freelancer Gary Friedrich signed a work-for-hire agreement six years after the original appearance of the Ghost Rider comic, the language was unclear about whether it covered the 1972 work and the renewal of the copyright," Robert Patrick's St. Louis Post Dispatch article reads.Β
