Arnold Hires New City Administrator

Matthew Bryan Richison will begin in the new role on Sept. 1.

In a closed session on Thursday, the Arnold City Council unanimously voted to hire Matthew Bryan Richison as the city's new administrator.

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, the city said Richison's salary will be $90,000. His first day will be September 1.

Richison is currently the city administrator of Lawson, Mo. Lawson is a town of about 2,500 people northeast of Kansas City. He has been its city administrator there since 2010.

He does have ties to the Greater St. Louis Area. According to his LinkedIn page, Richison was an assistant to the city administrator in Lake Saint Louis from 2003 to 2010. Prior to that position, he  worked as a finance manager in Douglas County, Colo.

Arnold Police Chief Robert Shockey has been acting city administrator in the interim. For that he was given about a $40,000 pay increase from his $92,000 salary, which puts him as making right at $130,000. But Shockey time in the seat hasn't been all that easy. Unrein's salary was $96,215 when he resigned. He also received $69,000 in severance pay.

The city said "continuing personal issues" made it impossible for him to effectively run Arnold, last year after his resignation. See Article Here: Arnold Residents' Opinions on Matt Unrein?
