Barnhart Neighbors Open South County Cupcake Shop

Emily Lotshaw rang her neighbor's doorbell and said, "Hey, wanna buy a cupcake shop?" And the rest is "Icing Cafe" history.

Emily Lotshaw, of Barnhart, said the first time she walked into Icing Cafe in South County, she fell in love with it.

Lotshaw was a massage therapist at Massage Envy, which is in the same plaza. One of the previous owners was one of her clients.

"I found out it was for sale, and I rang my neighbor's doorbell and said, 'Hey, wanna buy a cupcake shop?'" Lotshaw told Patch. "She agreed, and we took over the company's assets."

Lotshaw's neighbor, Dana Stetina, has a degree in economics and has been a stay-at-home mom for 12 years.

"I was looking to get back into the workforce, but I didn't imagine I'd own a business much less a cupcake shop," Stetina said.

The previous owners sold the shop because of health and personal reasons. If you walk in, you'll see that nothing has changed. All the recipes are the same as well.

The shop sells cupcakes, cakes, cheesecakes, cake pops, decorated cookies and cupcake-inspired merchandise. It's in Dierbergs Shopping Plaza in Oakville.

The shop is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It is closed Sunday and Monday.

You can submit your orders on the company's website or visit its Facebook page. The address is 5688 Telegraph Rd., and the phone number is 314-846-1650.
