Borders' Going-Out-Of-Business Sale Started Friday Morning; Everything Marked Down
Sunset Plaza and Mehlville Borders bookstores are among the six in the St. Louis area being sold to the bare walls.
The liquidation of in Sunset Hills and in Mehlville started Friday morning as promised. Everything in the stores was marked down 10 to 40 percent off the original price.
Gift cards will be honored over the entire sell off, according to an email sent out by Borders to Rewards Card holders. "Rewards" deals will be valid through July 31.
The once ubiquitous brand announced Monday it had not found a buyer and was selling off to liquidators. The company closed half its 800 stores earlier this year in an attempt to turn around its gloomy fate.

Borders Group Inc. President Mike Edwards blamed the turbulent economy, the rise of e-Readers and rapidly changing publishing industry for the company's demise.
