"Patch" has located some interesting local bargains this week that will not take a big bite out of the family budget.

If you are looking for good prices on baby gear, tires, bedding or recreation try some of these local specials. Shopping locally benefits area merchants, creates jobs and saves time and gasoline.

  • Deal: Schnucks customers can receive up to a 21-day supply of more than 54 generic antibiotics (on their formulary).
  • Good Through: According to Schnucks, the medications on the free list may change, but the program is scheduled to run indefinitely.


1354 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold

  • Deal: Dobbs will “beat any legitimate price from a local store or dealer stocking the same new tire.” Be sure to ask about any further restrictions. They also have a main-in rebate offer on four Michelin passenger and light truck tires going on through Sept. 7.
  • Good Through: Ongoing through 2011


1140 Jeffco Blvd., Arnold

  • Deal: “Quartermania” pricing means that from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday, you pay a $6 admission fee and the bowl as many games as you want for 25 cents a game. Cosmic bowling is 50 cents a game. Shoes are 50 cents as well. Chips, soda and hot dogs are 50 cents each. Draft beer is $1.25.
