El Maguey Mexican Restaurant has earned a loyal following for good reason. Its been serving good food at affordable prices since it opened in Concord Plaza years ago.

Over those years little has changed. The dining room décor still features Mexican folk art and paintings, which decorate the walls to the lacquered tabletops. The menu still offers its combination plates, the traditional favorite with cost conscious customers.

There has been a few changes since El Maguey opened. A second dining room and bar was added a while back along and the menu has been expanded.

Fajitas fans have eight different versions to consider.  There are also several stuffing options used to create El Maguey’s Quesadillas Rellenas, Enchiladas and Burritos Especiales.  Salad and soup offer an alternative for those seeking lighter fare.  Appetizers include an assortment from queso dip to fajita nachos. The favorite before-meal starter is the complementary chips and salsa.

The best buy remains the combination plates that are priced from $5.25 - $7.50 for lunch and set at $8.95 for dinner. Combo plates are dished with sides of refried beans and rice and match up two to three classic Tex-Mex items as the hard shell taco, enchilada, burrito, tamale, chalupa or the chile relleno.
