New Sunny Street Cafe Promises to Keep Menu and Customers Smiling

A name change at Arnold Commons' The Sunny Street Cafe. The cafe will retain the original Rise & Dine Restaurant menu while expanding hours to include dinner.

Rise and shine. There’s a new day breaking and a name change at the Arnold eatery, The Sunny Street Café, formerly known as the Rise & Dine Restaurant. Sunny Street Café hasn’t changed much except for the name and the expanding hours.

No longer a breakfast and lunch haunt, Sunny Street Café will now stay open for dinner.  As for the menu, it’s remains unchanged. That’s good news for customers who have enjoyed the restaurant’s dependable breakfast line-up and lunch standards that are now available for dinner, which includes the entire breakfast menu.

Breakfast in either the AM or PM dishes up the usual egg, toast and hash brown combos ($5.99- $7.69 with bacon or sausage), with the option to bail on the hash browns in favor of home-fries, grits or fruit for no extra charge. Omelets are a standout item with nine different versions.  Top omelet picks are the classic Denver, stuffed with ham, onions, green peppers, mushrooms and cheese ($7.99) and the unusual Spinach, Mushrooms and Sour Cream, a designated as a house favorite.

Three styles of Eggs Benedict are available for those craving hollandaise. If you're torn between a gourmet or down-home breakfast order up the Sausage Benedict ($7.69). It's an interesting red-neck twist on the French inspired classic - built on an English muffin, topped with sausage patties, poached eggs and homemade sausage gravy.

Pancakes, waffles and French toast ($4.59 – $5.99) along with the Steak and Eggs ($9.99) are excellent crossover choices for lunch or dinner. But if it's dinner time and you’re not hungry for breakfast pick from the daily chalk board specials or from Sunny Street’s varied menu of salads, soups, burgers, melts and deli sandwiches ($6.29 for the BLT to $6.99 for Corned Beef & Swiss on Rye).

Overall preices are mostly reasonable. Unfortunately, service can be slow. However, the dining room’s relaxed atmosphere and hot coffee makes up for the service the faux pas.
