South County Firm Hopes to Make Big Splash On The NRA Stage

Heizer Firearms is debuting a new model at the National Rifle Association Convention in St. Louis this weekend.

Anyone walking through the annual convention at the National Rifle Association's annual meeting in St. Louis will witness seven acres of what many have called "Nirvana" for gun enthusiasts.

For Heizer Defense, LLC, it's a golden opportunity for the young company, formed last year in conjunction with Heizer Aerospace. The firm unveiled its first gun in the conceal-and-carry market late last year, and is debuting another, the "Hedy Jane," at the convention. The company is based in South County, while the weapons are manufactured in Heizer Aerospace's Pevely, MO facility.

"This is an excellent place to show 70 thousand people our new gun line," Raymond Kohout, a longtime Sunset Hills resident and founder of the company told Patch from the exhibit floor this weekend.Β

Kohout said the market for concealable handguns is robust, and he's been overwhelmed by the response.

"I actually feel like we invented electricity," he said.
