South County Center Mall Collecting Items for Joplin Tornado Victims

The South County Center mall will collect items this week to help the tornado victims in Joplin, MO.

The mall will work with four other St. Louis area malls to help kids affected by the recent tornadoes, said mall owner CBL Associates Properties, Inc., in a company news release.

CBL, a NYSE-listed company headquartered in Chattanooga, TN, owns and operates South County Center, West County Center, Chesterfield Mall, St. Clair Square and Mid Rivers Mall. The company also owns Northpark Mall in Joplin.

“Seeing the complete devastation in Joplin, we want to reach out to do what we can to support the community in their time of need,” said Sean Phillips, regional marketing director for CBL St. Louis.

“By providing clothing, personal care and toys for children, we hope that our efforts will bring comfort to the smallest victims of the storm.”

Items requested are the following:

• New and gently-used clothing and shoes (Ages Birth – 17)
• New and gently-used toys
• New and gently-used books, coloring books and crayons
• Diapers and Wipes
• Soap and Shampoo
• Toothbrushes and Toothpaste
• Baby Food and Formula
• Bottles and Sippy Cups
• Blankets, pillows and sheets

Bins at each mall’s customer service desk will accept items today until Monday. Items will be delivered to Joplin service agencies next week and distributed to residents.
