Planning and Zoning Gives Preliminary OK to Steakhouse Expansion, Must Pass City Council

Arnold Planning and Zoning voted to approve an addition to Texas Roadhouse and to give permits to two snow cone businesses.

This summer, you should have no problem finding a snow cone, and hopefully an easier time getting a seat to enjoy a steak.

The Arnold Planning and Zonning commission passed, and will recommend to city council, to renew the permits for two snow cone businesses on Jeffco Boulevard and to OK an expansion at the Texas Roadhouse, in Arnold Commons. The Arnold city council needs to make the final approval for the steakhouse and the snow cones.

Snow Stop and S&J Snow Cone, both on Jeffco Boulevard, applied for permits to be renewed for three years. S&J also requested that their hours run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and to open for business in March instead of April.

Texas Roadhouse is planning to enclose an existing patio area, for an additional 30-40 seats, approximately 500 square feet.

Managing partner, Rod Seago said enclosing the patio is standard for Texas Roadhouse restaurants.

“When they built the restaurant, we put a roof over that patio area, in anticipation of enclosing it,” he said. “So we always had planned to, it was a matter of when.”

He said the restaurant is in its fourth year, and sales were up in 2011, and 2012 is going the same way.

“Our wait on Friday and Saturday is always over an hour,” Seago said. “Hopefully this will bring that wait down, so hopefully more people will try us on a busy weekend night.”

This article has been corrected. It previously stated that Arnold city council had given approval for the snow cone businesses and the steakhouse. That is currently not the case.
