The Midwest Veteran's Picnic was held Saturday 7/29 and was a successful event. The weather was warm, but there was a nice breeze blowing through Arnold Park. Festivities started with a posting of the colors at 10:30 by the Lemay Memorial American Legion Post 162 Honor Guard.
Arnold VFW Post 2593 had a food booth and there were other vendors present along with KSHE-95 and 5 Hour Energy. Many, many sponsors donated items for this event.
There were games, DJ's and local band, White Noise played from 3:30 to 5. The Mayor of East Carondelet, Il. Herb Simmons gave a short speech and Mad Maynard and Jackie McCoy closed out the entertainment with their original oldies show.
Organizers thanked Susie Boone and the Parks Department for the use of the park and are planning an even bigger event for next year.
