Arnold Resident Helps Shelter Puppy Find New Home

Rita Enke, of Arnold, the assistant kennel manager at the Open Door Animal Sanctuary helped Simba, a pomeranian, get adopted on Saturday.

There were some tears Saturday as a 1-year-old pomeranian named Simba was adopted from theΒ Open Door Animal Sanctuary.

Simba had been at the shelter for about six weeks. She was featured in the adoptable Animals column onΒ Fenton High Ridge PatchΒ on May 1.

But the tears were those of happiness since Simba finally was going to a new home. Clarence Hanes adopted Simba and would take her home to Hillsboro to become a companion for his other dog, Suzie, a shih tzu.

Simba's good fortune in finding a new home was part of an three-day adoption event at Open door, a no-kill animal shelter that has been operating since 1975.
