Labor is the Top Contributor to Past Arnold, Jefferson County Elections

In 2010, candidates received no more than $12,150 from a single donor group.

A glimpse of the 2010 election donations may provide some insight to this year's state and presidental elections.

In the 2010 Missouri House and Senate elections, about $266,000 went to four candidates in Arnold.

Incumbent Ryan McKenna, D-Senate District 22, won against Republican challenger Greg Zotta. McKenna had about $195,000 that year against Zottta's $425, says website for the non-profit organization Follow the Money.

For House District 101, Incumbent Democrat Timothy Meadows defeated Republican Charles Huey. Meadows had about $68,000 while Huey had about $2,400.

A closer look at the economic sectors showed that Labor, as defined by Follow the Money website, gave about $64,000 in the election; General Business donated about $25,000; the Industrial and Real Estate Sectors offered $21,700; Health contributed $21,125; and Energy and Natural Resources submitted $21,050 to the election.

A further examination of the data revealed that candidates recieved at most $12,150 came from a single union, business or self-identified donor group.
