New Bus Service to Add Stops, Launch Delayed to Monday

New Arnold City bus service delayed one week to allow organizers to schedule additional bus stops along the route.

The launch of the Arnold City bus service will occur on Monday, March 14, so organizers can add more stops along the bus route.

The Arnold City route was scheduled to begin on last Monday, March 7, said Dennis Murphy, community coordinator for the Jefferson County Community Partnership.

The partnership is a nonprofit in Barnhart, dedicated to solving community problems in Jefferson County. The organization manages the Arnold bus service, which is an expansion of the existing Jeffco Express bus service.

People asked Murphy to add more bus stops after he unveiled the service at the All-Abilities Expo at the Roy Wilde Conference Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd, in Arnold on Saturday.

Buses will stop at major retailers and employers in Arnold, Murphy said in a Feb. 22 article.

March will be a trial period to determine which business and colleges want bus stops for their employees and customers.

“We may need to adjust the location or number of bus stops before the route is considered as fixed,” Murphy said in the article.

In April, tickets will be $2 per bus ride or $1 for seniors and people with disabilities.

People living within one mile of a bus stop and who cannot walk to the stop are  eligible for bus pickup service, Murphy said.

The bus will deviate from its planned route and offer curbside pickup service for residents with physical disabilities. People who qualify for deviated service will pay $2.

People wanting the deviated service must submit an application to verify their disability, Murphy said.

Applicants should call 636-464-5144, extension 15 for more information.  The application is available as an attachment to this article or can be found at www.jeffcoexpress.org.
