Local Resources for Families with Special Needs

Area educational, therapeutic and family supports.

Through my efforts with the International Coalition for Autism and All Abilities (ICAA), and my individual advocacy, I have been fortunate to meet some great people.

I have learned much about local resources, services and supports for families with different abilities.

Therapeutic Playtime, and Lormax Rehabilitation, both headed by Karen Wild, are right here in the Arnold area and serve the general metro area.

Lormax is focused on helping each child reach their fullest potential through each stage of development, with physical, occupational, speech, and developmental therapies. It serves people ages 3-21 years old throughout our area.

Therapeutic Playtime specializes in pediatric therapy services for people ages 0-21 years in natural environments, school settings, home, or at the outpatient clinic on Jeffco in Arnold.

If you are in the St. Charles area, or know someone who is, the Adam Morgan Foundation helps facilitate access and therapy services for families, provides some therapeutic equipment to families, and also provides some advocacy and education support services.

Lindenwood University has a new, cutting edge M.A. in Education program with an emphasis in Autism and Sensory Impairments program.

Thanks to Drs. Panagos and Magnusen, ICAA has been able to learn more about this program, and pass the information to others.

We also have an educational video from Lindenwood posted at our site with guest speaker, Dr. Montovani, a well known specialist in our region for autism and other disorders.

I have been invited to speak to classes, and the ICAA organization has been asked to consult with members of the community about autism, advocacy, and educational supports.

ICAA will provide monthly information and support meetings on September 3 at 6 p.m.  The meetings will be held at the ICAA HUB, 200 Crestwood Plaza, St. Louis, MO 63126.

Children are welcome, all ages are welcome, advocates, self advocates, parents, siblings and family members are all welcome to attend.  Refreshments will be available.

For more information about any of these programs or services, please feel free to connect with anyone at ICAA.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
