What to do with kids this weekend in St. Louis

St. Louis has tons for kids to do this weekend. Read on to find out about them!

Thursday 

"The Maze Runner" Movie Release Party at St. Louis Public Library - Central Branch. Celebrate the release of "The Maze Runner" movie - Survive the maze! Grades 6-12. First Floor Teen Lounge

Creation Station at The Museum of Transportation. The Creation Station is a hands-on learning environment dedicated to introducing children (ages 5 and under) to all modes of transportation while focusing on developing and enriching the primary early learning skills.

Isabelle’s Paper Doll Fashion Craft at American Girl - St. Louis. Your girl can join in the fun during this free event, where she can color mix-and-match paper pieces to create different outfit combinations for her paper doll. Her creativity can sparkle, just like Isabelle’s!

Friday

Final Day for these FREE films offered at the Gateway Arch and Old Courthouse celebrating Black History Month! Films change weekly: Black History Month Film Series: Frederick Douglass: An American Life at The Old Courthouse and Black History Month Film Series: The Martin Luther King National Historic Site at The Gateway Arch.  

Fitness Fun Fridays at the Magic House. Kids will stretch their muscles and their minds! Each month features a different theme/fitness experience - This month is by Great St. Louis Dental Society! Children can earn FREE admission by taking fitness challenges, available online!

Friday Night Live  at City of Des Peres. Middle School students are invited to hang out at The Lodge with your friends on Friday, February 7, 6-9pm, for Friday Night Live! Swimming, games, pizza and more, all for $5

First Friday: St. Louis 2264 at Saint Louis Science Center. Join us on February 7th for First Friday: STL 2264 as we take a look at what St. Louis may be like in 250 years! Includes a free showing of the movie "Back to the Future."

COCA -Center of Creative Arts Presents 2013-2014: Samba – Afriky Lolo. Like children of every generation, Samba is a young African boy who struggles to respect his ancestral history, but soon learns how important the past can be to the future.

LASERIUM: Pepperland - A Beatles Revue at Saint Louis Science Center. Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of The Beatles’ first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show at a unique, one-hour live LASERIUM® laser light show set to live Beatles music, performed by Pepperland: The Beatles Revue Band. One night only - February 8!

Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure  Grab your tiaras and doubloons and join us for Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure at Chaifetz Arena!

Storytime with Guest Author Erin Hartung at Left Bank Books. Storytime host Miss Jonesey welcomes children’s author Erin Hartung for a special Valentine’s reading of "Enny Penny's Valentine's Wish."

Valentine's Day Party at St. Louis County Library - Cliff Cave Branch. Join us for our annual Valentine's Day Party. Make Valentines for friends and family, play games and try some tasty treats. Ages 3-8. Registration required.. Free!

Let's Make Valentines at St. Louis County Library - Eureka Hills Branch. Make some valentines, old-fashioned or new. Make as many as you want or just one for someone special. All supplies provided. Ages 5-11. Free!

African Percussion presented by the Freedom Arts and Education Center at St. Louis County Library - Thornhill Branch. Students will explore the diverse percussion traditions of Africa, expand their cultural knowledge and learn the techniques and rhythms of authentic instruments. Ages 8-16. Registration required. (20 students max). Free!

 

Saturday-Sunday 

Hot! Hot! Hot!  at The Butterfly House. Shake off the cold weather blues and join in fun, tropical-themed, kid-friendly activities: games and crafts that will make you go buggy. Enjoy live steel drum music, a toddler sandbox and face painting. For children ages 3 -8 with their families.

 

Sunday

Rockwood Summer Camp Expo 2013 at Marquette High School. Preview a variety of summer programming offerings from Rockwood Community Education as well as more than 70 area organizations during the 2014 Summer Expo. Free and open to the public.

Delta Dental Winter Zoo at St. Louis Zoo. Come to the Zoo on Sundays this winter and enjoy animal-related games and activities, animal biofacts, crafts and more! February 9, 16, 23 and March 2, 2014

St. Charles Chill v. Quad City Mallards  at the Family Arena!

 

Monday 

Open Gym - Come play with us!  at Miss Kelly's - The Gym For Kids . Open Gym is an opportunity for your child to have supervised free play in our gym. They can work on existing skills, try something new, or simply play around. It is completely up to them!

Ridley Pearson: Starcatchers on Broadway at Left Bank Books. Pearson will sit down for an onstage interview with KMOX's Mark Reardon to discuss the process of adapting his hit series for Broadway.

 

Monday-Tuesday 

Story Hour – Happy Valentine’s Day at Whole Foods Market - Town & Country. During this fun story hour, we will celebrate Valentine’s Day with adults and kids alike. Diane will also read “The Valentine Kittens” by Stephanie St. Pierre and then make a Valentine’s craft with the kids.

 

Tuesday 

Pint Size Valentine Party at City of Crestwood Parks Department. Anyone between the ages 2-6 dress in red and join us for a Valentine’s Day Celebration on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 10:00-11:30am! Pre-registration is required by Monday, February 10, 2014.

Bitty Baby’s Story Time  at American Girl - St. Louis. Discover the wonderful world of Bitty Baby! Little girls and their parents can hear a reading of Bitty Baby and Me, the first title in the new picture book collection from American Girl. Free and open to the public. For girls ages 3 and up.

Forest Food Chains at Powder Valley Nature Conservation Center. Investigate nature's complex web of food chains and energy flow! Join in a special yarn-toss web game; play with lots of nature puppets; make a creative, beautiful food-chain Valentine’s card! Weather permitting, we'll take a nature walk too. Ages 6+

 

Wednesday 

Children’s Storytime at Kirkwood Public LIbrary. Storytime - Join us for stories, songs, games & crafts. Questions? Call 314-821-5770, ext. 1015. Event is free and open to the public. Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.

Pinkalicious Cupcake Party at St. Louis County Library - Headquarters. Do you LOVE the color pink? Come read "Pinkalicious" and other books by Victoria Kann. Play pink games, make dazzling crafts and decorate a yummy cupcake. Dress up in your favorite pink outfit or fancy clothes. Ages 3-6. Registration required. Free.

Wednesday Play & Ride at The St. Louis Carousel at Faust Park . Start your Wednesdays off right at the St. Louis Carousel! Enjoy going back and forth from great activities in the playroom to unlimited rides on the carousel between 10am - noon. Tailored for ages 5 and under. Every Wednesday from Jan 22 - Mar 26.
