Arnold Eagle Scout installs new flagpole at New Hope United Methodist Church

Blake Hufford, a founding member of Boy Scout Troop 501, chartered to New Hope United Methodist Church, in Arnold, Mo., River Trails District, recently completed his Eagle project by installing a new flag pole at New Hope to replace the wall mounted flag at the entrance to the church’s pre-school.

Blake, 18, is the son of Craig and Christy Hufford of Arnold.

Blake's Eagle project was approved on May 30, and he began clearing ground for the installation of a flagpole and landscaping on June 11. The bulk of the work was completed on Saturday, June 15, with the project being completed with a flag-raising ceremony after services on Father's Day, June 16.

"This was the greatest Father's Day gift a dad could ever want - to see his son reach the
pinnacle of his Scouting career," Craig Hufford said.

Blake and his project were also featured on the Bryan on Scouting blog, the official blog of Scouting Magazine: http://blog.scoutingmagazine.org/2013/06/21/photo-finishes-before-and-after-shots-of-25-eagle-scout-....

Blake is a 2013 graduate of Fox High School and a student at Jefferson College. He is studying to become a police officer.
