Arnold Man Captured in Hotel Room After Police Receive Tip on Bank Robbery, Officials Say

St. Louis County Police arrested Edward Starns at a South County hotel on Friday.

An Arnold man is accused of robbing the First Missouri Credit Union on Wednesday. 

Edward W. Starns, 30, of the 1700 block of Janet Drive in Arnold, was charged Saturday with one count of Robbery in the Second Degree and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Starns is being held in the St. Louis County Justice Center in lieu of a $100,000, cash only bond.

St. Louis County police released photos of the man from video surveillance Wednesday. The man robbed First Missouri Credit Union, 1690 Lemay Ferry Road, at about 10:15 a.m. Wednesday.

He was described as a white male in his early 30s.  He was believed to have in a small to mid-size yellow Chevrolet.  No weapons were displayed and no one was injured.

Starns was arrested Friday after a tip led police to the America’s Best Value Inn Hotel at 6602 South Lindbergh Blvd. Starns was found in a hotel room and had a substance police believe to be heroin.

Detectives from the county’s Division of Crimes Against Persons questioned the suspect and obtained a warrant through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
