A man stole his father’s truck, and his friend drove off in the truck while the father was hanging onto the door handle, according to a Crestwood police report.
Crestwood Police said that Nicholas Doane, 19, of the first block of Wampler Drive near Arnold, took the truck from his father’s Jefferson County home.
Using an app on his cell phone, the father tracked them to the parking lot at Kohl’s in Crestwood, police said. He confronted Doane and his friend, Anthony Passiglia, 28, of Arnold, in the parking lot and demanded they return his truck.
Passiglia jumped in the truck and drove off as the owner held onto the door handle, according to the police report. The victim suffered a broken leg.
Police said Passiglia then backed the truck up, and Doane “jumped in the truck and drove off, leaving the victim on the parking lot.”
Doane was charged with stealing a motor vehicle. Passiglia was charged with second-degree assault and stealing a motor vehicle.
Doane has posted a $15,000 bond and has been released. Passiglia is being held in St. Louis County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
