Arnold Man Facing Domestic Assault, Drug Charges

David T. Fortner is accused of grabbing his wife's face, pulling her hair and pushing her head against a headboard, police say. He also had more than 70 grams of marijuana.

An Arnold man is facing charges stemming from a Nov. 12 domestic dispute with his wife at their apartment in the 1300 block of Riverdale Dr.

David T. Fortner, 54, has been charged with third-degree domestic assault and possession of a controlled substance by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

Fortner's wife told Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies that he grabbed her face, squeezed her cheeks, pulled her hair and pushed her head against the headboard of a bed, court documents state.

A witness at the scene told deputies she saw Fortner place a bag of marijuana in the kitchen trash can, the documents state. Fortner admitted to deputies that the bag was his and estimated its weight at more than 70 grams.

Third-degree domestic assault is a class A misdemeanor that carries with it a punishment of up to a year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. Possession of a controlled substance is a class C felony punishable by up to a year in jail or one to 7 years in a state prison and/or up to a $5,000 fine.
