Arnold Man Kills Roommate: Asks If He Trusts Him Before Shooting, Police Say

Keith James Wildharber, 21, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for shooting and killing his roommate on July 29, according to police.

Alcohol and firearms had a fatal outcome on July 29. According to the Arnold Police Department, Keith James Wildharber, 21, has confessed to shooting and killing his roommate at their Richardson Place Apartment home.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged Wildharber with involuntary manslaughter. 

Police have not released the victim's name, but did reveal it is a 26-year-old man.

According to police, Wildharber recounted the night's events, which included alcohol. He said at about 10:47 p.m. on Monday, his roommate and he, along with another friend, were at their apartment in the 3200 block of Richardson Place Drive. Police said Wildharber told them he pulled out a Ruger P95 9MM handgun from his waistband. He proceeded to partially remove the magazine and ejected ammunition from the chamber, according to an Arnold Police Department statement.

Wildharber then reinserted the magazine in the gun and pointed the pistol at the victim before asking him if he trusted him and pulling the trigger, according to police.

The gun discharged and a bullet struck the victim in the torso, according to the report. The victim was taken to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County. He was pronounced dead on July 30 at 12:27 a.m.

First-degree involuntary manslaughter is a class C felony. Wildharber could face up to seven years in prison.

He was booked at the Arnold Police Department but was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail. His bond is $10,000.
