A Festus man says the end of his marriage pushed him to his breaking point.

Arnold Police saved a man from what could have been a fatal situation on Thursday.

Police pulled back a 43-year-old Festus man from the edge of the Richardson Road overpass over Interstate 55 in Arnold, Arnold Police Capt. Bill Bonsack told the Leader.

Staff writer Kim Robertson reports police got a call about the man being on the overpass at about 7:41 p.m.

“He was sitting on the overpass with one leg hanging over the edge,” Bonsack told Robertson. “The gentleman told officers to not come any closer or he’d jump.”

The man was apparently upset about an impending divorce from his wife and  asked to speak with her, according to the Leader.
