FBI Asks For Help In Identifying 'I-55 Bandit'

The FBI is seeking the public’s help in identifying the “I-55 Bandit,” a man the agency says has robbed or attempted to rob 10 banks in five states.

He’s been dubbed the I-55 Bandit because all the banks he robbed in Missouri were along Interstate 55. He is reported to have robbed banks in Missouri, Illinois, Maryland, West Virginia and Tennessee.

He robbed Commerce Bank in Arnold July 2. The man also robbed banks in Crystal City and Cape Girardeau.

In all of the completed robberies, the man used a demand note and implied that he was armed. No one has been injured in the robberies. The FBI is not disclosing the amounts taken during the robberies.

The I-55 Bandit is described as young, in his early to mid 20s, 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall, thin, with short brown or strawberry blond hair. Photos of the I-55 Bandit accompany this article.
