Update: Father Charged with Abuse During 18-Month-Old's Death
The Jefferson County prosecutors have charged a 21-year-old man in connection with the injuries to the child.
Update 11:45 a.m. with new information about the child's death and charges issued to Jamell Johnson.
A 21-year-old Arnold man has been charged with child abuse and endangering the welfare of his 18-month-old daughter, who later died, according to local news reports.
News reports said Jamell Johnson had been charged in connection with the injuries to the child. FOX-2 said were continuing the investigtation into the case after Jefferson County prosecutors filed charges.

The child, Aliyah McFarland, died Monday afternoon, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on Tuesday.
The child had previously been on life support at Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center, KMOV-Ch. 4 reported.

In a report on its website, KSDK-Ch. 5 quoted neighbors saying they were "heartbroken after witnessing emergency crews carrying out a young girl from an apartment."
KSDK's report said police were called to the Crosswinds apartment complex around 2 p.m. Sunday and were there for hours looking for evidence in the case.
