Man Gives Police Wrong Info to Stop Friend from Being Arrested

A man lied about his friend's identity in order to avoid her being arrested, according to police. Both wind up in jail.

Arnold Police arrested a man on June 19 after he attempted to impede on a police investigation.

According to Maj. Nick McBroom, an officer at a traffic stop located on Interstate 55 and Richardson Road, arrested a 30-year-old Festus woman that was wanted for numerous warrants. McBroom said her passenger, a 32-year-old Imperial man, was also arrested after giving "false and misleading" information about the woman to the officer.

"They (police) were trying to identify her and he was giving false information about who she was," McBroom said.
