McDermott Home Destroyed by Fire, Friends Organize to Help

The McDermotts lost their Arnold home and everything in it to fire on Feb. 19. Go to the Facebook page to see how you can help.

The McDermott’s home, in Pomme Meadows in Arnold, was totally destroyed by fire on Feb. 19.

All the McDermotts collected something, according to Fox2now, and now it's all gone.

Daughter, Brittney McDermott was the first to smell smoke, and she was the one to wake the family to allow them all to escape.

The father, Patrick, was hospitalized for burns and smoke inhalation. He was released on Wednesday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Friends of the McDermotts organized a donation drive to help them get back on their feet, and on Sunday, clothes, blankets and furniture was dropped off at two firehouses: Firehouse #5 at 3749 Telegraph Road and Firehouse #1 at 1533 Jeffco Boulevard.

A Facebook page has been set up to organize donations. A Pay Pal link is included for donations directly to the McDermotts.

A friend suggested a trivia night as a fundraiser. Go to the Facebook page to stay informed.

  • Two females (Brittney & Heather) size L & M
  • Two males size L
  • The youngest (Derrick) size M in kids
