Tennessee Police Capture Arnold Man Accused of Stealing Officer's Firearm

John Henry Orlando, 18, faces the charge of stealing a St. Louis City law enforcement officer's weapon.

Sparta police officers in Tennessee caught John Henry Orlando, 18, of Arnold as the man approached the City of Sparta on June 14.

A tip said that Orlando was last seen in Rock Island, TN and headed toward Sparta, reports the spartaexpositor.com news website.

The police department learned that Orlando is accused of stealing a gun from a St. Louis City law enforcement officer's vechicle on March 2, the news website said.

Sparta Police Chief Jeff Guth said, to the news website, that his officers saw a car, near the intersection of Highway 111 and Mayberry Street, that matched the description of a 2002 silver Ford Mustang with Missouri license plates driven by Orlando.

The officers followed the car, verified its registration, stopped the car at the intersection and learned Orlando was the driver.

Officers charged Orlando as a fugitive and held him for planned extradition.

Orlando appeared in White County General Sessions Criminal Court on Friday, June 22.
