North Jefferson County Ambulance Wins Grant to Buy Lifesaving Equipment

A $160,251 grant will be used to purchase cardiac monitors and a power stretcher

North Jefferson County Ambulance District (NJCAD) has received a $160,251Β  Assistance to Firefighter Grant (AFG) to pay for new state-of-the-art lifesaving equipment, according to a news release from the district.

NJCAD Interim Chief Jamie Guinn says the additional equipment will allow the district to provide a higher level of advanced medical care to patients.

The grant will allow the district to purchase four cardiac monitors that are capable of performing a variety of tasks, including capnography, external cardiac pacing, hands-free electrical defibrillation, blood pressure monitoring and 12-lead electrocardiograms.

In addition, the district will purchase a power stretcher that will alleviate much of the manual lifting required by conventional stretchers, according to the news release. The new capability will allow NJCAD to remain up to date with national standards of care guidelines set by the American Heart Association.

β€œWe are truly grateful and excited to be given this opportunity to enhance service to our residents and all patients cared for by NJCAD personnel, said Guinn in the new release.
