Rock Community Fire Protection District Goes SOLAR

The solar program should save the district around $218, 929 throughout the term of the lease.

Rock Community Fire Protection District is going SOLAR. That is according to Fire Chief James Allred.

He said the fire district's board has agreed to enter into a 20-year lease with Brightergy Solar, a company that will provide right at 42-percent of the district's electricity via solar power.

Allred said the plan includes installations on all district buildings and includes no up-front costs to the district.

There is a fixed monthly lease payment for the next 20 years. Allred said it is less than the cost that would be paid to Ameren to supply that much power.

He also said the district will not be liable for installation and maintenance costs associated with the leased equipment.
