Thieves in Arnold Attempt to Exchange Stolen Clothes

The Arnold Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department provided the following information. None of it indicates a conviction or guilty plea.

Feb. 26

GPS, Radar Detector Stolen—The owner of a Chevy Suburban reported his GPS unit and radar detector, a total value of $250, missing from the SUV while it was parked overnight at 888 Arnold Commons Dr., the address for hotel.

TV Thieves Caught— store security, at 2201 Michigan Ave., saw a man steal a 46-inch TV worth about $1,050 and leave the parking area in a gray 1997 Ford Explorer at about 4 p.m. St. Louis County police stopped the SUV at another Walmart store on Telegraph Road at 5:30 p.m. and arrested two Bonne Terre, MO, men ages 22 and 24 years old.

Feb. 25

Purse Stolen from Vehicle—A woman reported damage to her Dodge Ram Charger’s passenger door, at about 11 a.m., and that her purse, wallet, debit card, medicines and $180 in stuffed animals were missing from the truck.

Feb. 24

Stealing Vodka— store security detained a Arnold man, 19, for attempting to steal a $32 bottle of vodka. Arnold police released the man at the store on a court summons.

Returning to the Scene of a Crime—A St. Louis woman, 41, and an Imperial man, 21, stole about $380 of clothing from , at 2150 Michigan Ave., at 12 p.m. Then the two people tried to exchange the clothing to the same store at 2 p.m. Arnold police charged both people with stealing, transferred one person to the St. Louis County Police Department on an existing warrant, and jailed in lieu of bond payment. All stolen merchandise was returned to the retailer.

Tires Slashed—A victim reported two slashed tires while his vehicle was parked at 888 Arnold Commons, the address for Value Place hotel, between 7-10:20 p.m. 

Feb. 23

Mailbox, Vehicle Damage—A resident, living in the 2000 block of Bender Lane, reported a total of $200 of damage to her mailbox and her vehicle’s tire.

Feb. 22

Stealing from an Employer—Walmart store security at 2201 Michigan Ave., called Arnold police after learning a store employee, a 35-year-old Pevely man, stole and spend $350 in gift cards. Police charged the man with stealing and released him on a court summons.

Leaving the Scene, Driving While Influenced—Arnold police said a 17-year-old Arnold woman struck a fire hydrant on Richardson Road, at about 2 a.m., and left the vehicle at 2005 Richardson Road. Police arrested the woman-who had a .063 blood alcohol level-charged her with leaving an accident site and driving while influenced. The woman also faces charges of losing her driver’s license. Police released the woman on a bond payment and to a sober parent.

Feb. 21.

Gasoline Stolen from Vehicle — A Thrush Lane resident found a hole in his vehicle’s gas tank and reported all his fuel missing. About $48 of fuel was lost because of the $1,300 worth of property damage. 

Stealing CDs — A Walmart store security officer, at 2201 Michigan Ave., saw a juvenile and an Arnold man, 17, take two music CDs and leave without paying the required $24. Arnold police booked the man then released him on a court summons. Police returned the juvenile to a parent.

Beer Damages Vehicle, Pitcher Flees — A driver near the intersection of Glenwood Drive and Old Lemay Ferry Road, at about 10:15 p.m., said someone threw a beer bottle at her car and damaged the driver’s side mirror.

Driving While Influenced, Resisting Arrest—Police officers attempted to stop a 2002 Ford Explorer driving near the Fox Chase Apartments, at 600 Fox Chase, at about 2 a.m.  The  SUV struck a parked vehicle in the apartment’s parking lot and stopped.  The 23-year-old Arnold man driving the SUV refused to leave his vehicle. Officers arrested the man and booked him. The man took a blood test and had a .099 blood alcohol level. Police jailed the man on a $600 bond.

Feb 20.

Leash Law Violation  — Arnold police investigated a dog-bites-dog case at Surfside Drive at about 3 p.m. The officer learned neither dog was on a leash when the bite occurred and cited both pet owners for breaking a Arnold safety ordinance.
