Two Charged in Oct. 19 First Bank Robbery in Arnold

Darren E. Everett and Mackenzie A. Leonard are also facing charges in connection with four other recent bank robberies.

Two Chesterfield residents are facing charges in connection with the Oct. 19 robbery at First Bank in Arnold.

Darren E. Everett, 42, and Mackenzie A. Leonard, 26, both of the 1100 block of Matador, were charged March 27 with second-degree burglary by the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.

The two were arrested in February by Town and Country police and later charged in connection with several other bank robberies including two in St. Louis County, one in Town and Country and another in Columbia, IL.

In the Arnold First Bank robbery, Everett allegedly entered the bank on Jeffco Boulevard, walked up to the teller and presented a demand note. After stealing $8,337 he yelled "Go Cards" and left.

Everett confessed to the Arnold crime after being arrested by Town and Country police, according to court documents. He did not show a weapon.

Leonard assisted in the robbery by driving Everett to the bank and picking him up after the robbery, the documents state. She confessed to the crime after being arrested by Columbia, IL, police.

Everett and Leonard are each being held at the St. Louis County Jail on a $500,000 bond. 

Second-degree robbery is a Class B felony and carries with it a punishment of between five and 15 years in state prison.
