U.S. Secret Service Called on Counterfeit Money Case

Four teenagers found in stolen St. Louis County vehicle on Christmas day.

The Arnold Police Department provided the following information. None of it indicates a conviction or guilty plea.

Dec. 25

Counterfeit Bill Passed— A gas station clerk at 3910 Jeffco Blvd., said an Arnold man, 38, attempted to pay with a counterfeit $20 bill at about 1:40 p.m. Arnold police took the man into custody and learned he was arrested in St Louis County on Dec. 22 on a similar charge. Police contacted the U.S. Secret Service, the U.S. Treasury Department agency responsible for protecting the U.S. currency, then released the man on a pending arrest warrant.

Stolen Vehicle — After a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Arnold-Tenbrook Road at 4:42 a.m. Arnold police charged an Arnold boy, 17, with driving a vehicle stolen from St. Louis County. Police also arrested three people-an 18 year old man from Arnold, a 17 year old girl from Arnold and an 18 year old from De Soto-found riding in the stolen vehicle. Arnold police booked and jailed all four people until St. Louis County police could investigate the event.

Stealing Flea, Tick Medication —A store manager, at 828 Arnold Commons, called police at about 10:15 a.m. after an unknown man stole about $441 in flea and tick medication for dogs.

Drug, Paraphernalia Possession — Arnold police responded to calls of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot, at 520 Jeffco Blvd., at about 1:20 p.m. Police found an Arnold man, 23, and an Imperial man, 19, in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Assault, Knife Attack — Arnold police arrested an Arnold man, 31, after he used a pocket knife to slash a another driver in an argument about a parking space at 2201 Michigan Ave., the location for , at about 7 p.m. Policed charged the man and released him on a pending arrest warrant. The victim had a minor cut on the neck and refused medical help at scene, police said.

Vehicle Wreck — Arnold police arrested a Boston, TX woman, 30, after she had a vehicle wreck near the intersection of Vogel Road and Elmer Drive at about 10 p.m. The woman was wanted on a warrant, police said, charged and released on bond.

Dec. 22

Property Damage, Possible Attempted Forced Entry — A Karpos Street resident reported waking to a loud noise at the residence’s front door at 1:30 a.m. At about 11 a.m., the resident discovered damage to the door. The door remained closed and locked with no damage to the lock, the resident said to Arnold police.

Driving While Influenced — Arnold police responded to calls of an intoxicated driver in the 3900 and 4000 blocks of Jeffco Boulevard at about 2 a.m. Officers found a Collinsville, IL woman, 38, inside her vehicle. The woman refused to take a breath test. Police held the woman until a sober driver could take her home.

Dec. 21

Property Damage, Attempted Theft — An employee, at 2890 Arnold-Tenbrook Rd., confronted a person taking wood pallets from the business at about 9 a.m.

Drug, Paraphernalia Possession — Arnold police responded to a call of property damage at a hotel room at 2121 Ridge Rd., the address for the at 11:45 a.m. Officers found and charged the following people with drug and paraphernalia possession.

  • a High Ridge, MO man, 28
  • a Barnhart, MO man, 36
  • a St. Louis woman, 26

Fleeing a Police Officer — An Oakville man, 22, attempted to flee from Arnold police after a traffic stop near the intersection of Arnold-Tenbrook Road and Hwy. 231 at 3:42 p.m. Traffic stopped the man. Police charged the man then released him on a court summons.

Dec. 20

Stealing — Walmart store security detained a Mineral Point, MO woman, 32, for allegedly stealing two TVs worth at total estimated value of about $576. Arnold police learned the woman is wanted by the St. Louis County Police Department and the Miner Point Police Department for charges of stealing. Arnold police also charged another Miner Point woman, 42, with the attempted theft.

Leaving an Accident Scene, Lying to a Police Officer — An Arnold man, 21, is wanted for charges of leaving the scene of a vehicle wreck near the intersection of Missouri State Road and Londell Road at 10 a.m. Arnold police said the man is wanted for other charges unrelated to the wreck. Arnold police also charged an Arnold man, 60, with falsely saying he drove the vehicle into the wreck. Police released the older man at the scene on a court summons.
