I’ve been with the city for five years.  I was superintendent of recreation for the City of Ballwin. When this position became available they had just completed the Recreation Center. Being in Jefferson County, you want to work in the county you live in.  It’s been a great ride the past five years.

I’ve been in parks and recreation since 1975.  There are two things that keep me going. One is the general public we deal with.  When people deal in activities and leisure, it’s because they want to be.  It’s a very different psyche that we deal with day in and day out.  We get to deal with people that want to do what they’re doing.  It’s very positive, very particularly here in Arnold.  And two is the staff that we have here.  We have a very complete staff people in the 50s and people in their 20s, and they work very hard and very diligently for their community.

What do you like least?

Obviously, the flooding.  That really plays heavy, particularly at Pomme Creek Golf Course.  Everybody has worked so darn hard since we purchased the course back in ’07.  Flooding comes in and causes harm to about five holes up there.  Seeing the water sit there for days at a time is very disheartening.
